Owls for my birthday boy!

Idag är ingen vanlig dag minsann! Min äldste son fyller 20 år och det ska givetvis firas ordentligt. Vi i familjen får dock vänta lite med firandet på plats eftersom vi nu bor tre timmars bilfärd ifrån varandra och han dessutom har fullt upp med nollning och pubrundor. Vilket är helt ok, bara han har kul :)

I vilket fall som helst så finns det en liten tradition att han ska få något med ugglor på sin födelsedag så därför ger jag han och er en ugglemanikyr idag.

Basen är Zoya Minka som jag stämplat ugglor från MoYou Nails #101 med Mentality Orane Opaque som färg. Målade dit lite grenar för hand sen.

Kanske något blek manikyr, men jag tycker ändå att den blev fin.

Today is no ordinary day, no because this is my eldest sons 20th birthday and that is of course reason for celebrations. The family will have to wait a while though since we now live three hours car drive away from each other and he also is busy with first weeks at University and pubrounds. And you know that is totally ok as long as he is enjoying it. 

Anyway there is a tradition that he should get something with owls on or in it on his birthday so that is why I give both him and you an owlmanicure today. 

The base is Zoya Minka, the owls comes from MoYou Nails "101 and I stamped it with Mentality Orange Opaque. And som free handed branches. 

Maybe a bit pale, but I still like it. 

Pink & Black stripes!

Eftersom jag inte hann fixa en helt ny manikyr häromdagen så bestämde jag mig för att göra lite nailart på OPI Girls Love Ponies. Jag plockade fram striping tejp och Rainbow Honey Nyx. Min första tanke var att göra alla naglar likadana, men något fick mig att ändra mig och göra varannan nagel med mer svart och varannan med mer rosa.

I grund och botten så gillar jag den här manikyren. Jag gillar hur mönstret blev. En glad manikyr med färger som jag gillar riktigt mycket. Det jag inte gillar är att det svarta lacket blödde lite väl mycket när jag la på överlacket vilket gör att det ser lite kladdigt ut, men det får jag väl bjuda på.

I didn't have time to redo my nails the other day so I decided to make some nailart over OPI Girls Love Ponies. I dug out some striping tape and Rainbow Honey Nyx from the drawer. My first intention was to make all the nails with the same pattern, but somewhere along the way I changed my mind and instead made every second nail with more black and the others with more pink. 

I do like how the patterns turned out. Actually I like the manicure, but what I don't like is that the black got a  bit smeared when I applied the topcoat. I think that makes the manicure look a bit messy which I of course is less happy with. But I guess you will have to try and forget about that. 

Grön Onsdag - Comparison Barielle Date Night vs China Glaze Jolly Holly

När jag visade China Glaze Jolly Holly så skrev jag att jag var nyfiken på hur pass likt det var Barielle Date Night och självklart kollade jag ju upp detta. Dessutom bestämde jag mig för att det här visst kunde funka till Karins Gröna Onsdag.

Jag har målat två lager av varje lack. Bägge täcker med två lager även om jag kanske tycker att Date Night kan behöva tre lager. Så låt oss börja med flaskbilderna.

When I showed you China Glaze Jolly Holly I wrote that I was curious about how similar it was to Barielle Date Night. So of course I had to test that. And I also decided that this post would do great for Karins Green Wednesday.

I have painted with two layers of both polishes and both is covering with that, but I do think that Barielle could use a third one. So let's start with the bottleshot.

Som ni kan se så är dom ganska lika när man ser dom i flaskorna.

As you can see, they look pretty much alike in the bottle. 

Men på naglarna blir det annorlunda. Jolly Holly drar mycket mer åt guldhållet än vad Date Night gör som är mer silvrig i tonen. Jag tycker också att JH har en varmare ton i sig och lite mer djup än DH.

Bägge två är lättmålade och jag måste säga att jag gillar dom bägge väldigt mycket. Och som ni nu också ser så är dom ju absolut inte dupes.

But when on the nails it's clear that they are different. Jolly Holly has more gold in it than Date Night that looks more silvery. Also JH has a warmer tone and more depth to it than DH. 

Both of them are easy to apply and I have to say that I like them both very much. And as you can see now they are definitly not dupes. 

OPI - Girls Love Ponies

Jag tillhör en av dom flickorna som faktiskt inte gillade ponnys, men det här lacket gillar jag i alla fall! Det här är Girls Love Ponies från OPI:s Ford Mustang kollektion. Vad jag däremot alltid har gillat är just Ford Mustang. Om jag någonsin ska ha något annat än en MG cab så skulle det nog bli en äldre Mustang.

Nog om bilar och hästar och tillbaka till lacket. Girls Like Ponies är ett skarpt rosa krämlack som är väldigt trevligt att måla med. Det här skulle kunna gå att använda med enbart ett lager om man tar i lite från början. Jag har två och ett lager med Insta-Dri över.

Jag gillar det här. Ett glatt lack som jag kan tänka mig går att använda till alla möjliga sorters nailart i framtiden. Färgen är rosa, men inte mesig på något sätt utan snarare nästan utmanande. Och jag måste erkänna att jag tycker det är riktigt skönt med ett hederligt krämlack mitt bland alla glitterbomber, holos och duokroma lack faktiskt.

 

I belong to one of the girls who actually didn't like ponies, but I like this polish anyway! This is Girls Love Ponies from OPI's Ford Mustang collection. Something that I always have liked though is Ford Mustang. If I ever have anything other than an MG cab it would probably be an older Mustang. 

Enough about cars and horses and back to the polish. Girls Like Ponies is a bright pink creme that is very nice to paint with. This could be usable with only one layer if you take a thicker one from the start. I have two layers and a layer with Insta-Dri over. 

I like this. A happy color that I can think of can be used for all kinds of nailart in the future. The color is pink, but not a wimp pink by any means, but rather almost challenging. And I have to admit I think it's really nice to have a "ordinary" creme polish on as a variety to all the glitter bombs, holos and duochrome I wear a lot of.

China Glaze - Jolly Holly

Vad sägs om ett Jullack?

Jo, för China Glaze Jolly Holly kom ut med China Glaze julkollektion 2010, men för min del så funkar det här lika bra året om. Ett vackert mörkgrönt skimmer. En färg som tilltalar mig väldigt mycket, men trots det så har det stått otestat ganska länge.

För mig känns det som att China Glaze har skiftat ganska mycket i kvalité vad det gäller lacken sista året, men det här är ju som sagt från en tidigare kollektion och formulan är väldigt trevlig.

Jag har två lager på som hade bra torktid. Ett lager med Digital Flash över det hela också. Något som slog mig när jag målade med det här är att det skulle kunna vara väldigt likt ett annat av mina favoritlack nämligen Barielle Date Night. Jämförelse kommer.

How about a Christmas Polish? 

Well, China Glaze Jolly Holly came out with China Glaze Christmas collection in 2010, but in my mind this works very well all year round. A beautiful dark green shimmer. A color that very much appeals to me, but that didn't help because it has been standing unused a long time. 

To me it feels like China Glaze has shifted quite a bit in quality of their polishes. At least in the last years collections, but this is from a previous collection and the formula is very nice. 

I have two layers of which had good drying time. A stock with Digital Flash all over it too. Something that struck me when I painted with this is that it could be very similar to another of my favorite polishes namely Barielle Date Night. Comparison will come.
