Ert val / Readers Choice - Picture Polish Peacock

Lacket ni valde åt mig den här veckan är en av mina lemmings som jag köpte hos Nailmail när det var månadens lack i September. Jag hade verkligen tänkt att försöka hålla mig från att köpa några Picture Polish, men det gick liksom inte utan sista dagen så klickade jag hem det här och Monroe. Bägge har sen dess stått sorgligt oanvända hos mig.

Det var ganska uppenbart snabbt vilket lack som skulle vinna omröstningen den här veckan. Man kan säga att Peacock vann utan konkurens.

Sminkan visade det här i söndags och hade det över ett tealfärgat lack själv har jag lagt det över Orly Enchanted Forest. Två lager. Saken är den att basen faktiskt är lila jelly i det här lacket så jag misstänker att det kan ändra karaktär lite grann beroende på vad man har under. Fast egentligen är det så att man inte ens behöver ha något under. Skulle tro att det här täcker på egen hand på tre lager.

Jag gillade formulan, tyckte det var lätt att få det att flyta ut jämt på nageln och färgen, ja den smälter jag som smör i solsken för. Sen får den vara teal, grön eller lila spelar inte mig någon roll. Ett lager Seche över har jag också. Lite tur hade jag också för solen tittade fram när jag skulle fota och lacket visade sig från sin allra bästa sida.

The polish you chose for me this week was one of my lemmings that I finaly bought when Nailmail had Picture Polish as brand of the month in September. I had really thought about trying to keep me from buying a few Picture Polishs, but at the last day for ordering I coudn't help myself and clicked home this and Monroe. Both have since then been sadly unused.

It was quite apparent quickly which polish would win the vote this week. You could say that Peacock won without Competition.

Sminkan showed this last Sunday and had it over a teal polish. I choosed to put it over Orly Enchanted Forest. Two stocks. The thing is that the base is actually purple jelly in this polish so I suspect that it may change the character a bit depending on what you have underneath. But the thing is that you really don't even need anything underneath. I think that it should cover in three layers on it's own.

I liked the formula, found it easy to get it to flow out evenly on the nail and the color, I love it! A layer of Seche to top it all. I had a little luck, I had the sun peeped out when I would shoot and the polish showed its best side.

Undrar om jag verkligen trodde att jag skulle bli så fast i bloggandets värld den där tråkiga dagen på jobbet när den här bloggen kom till?

Visst hade jag funderat på om jag inte skulle testa på själv också, jag läste ju redan hur många nagelbloggar som helst och fotade oftast lacken jag målade med. Jag får nog helt enkelt tacka våra kunder på jobbet för att dom håller sig lite lugnare i januari och februari annars är jag inte säker på att jag satt igång med det här.

Hur kom jag på namnet då? Också ett hastverk som jag kände kanske skulle tänkts igenom lite mera. Jag tror jag hade min gamla frisörs namn Clipp Corner i huvudet när det här dök upp. Jag lackar och jag blir lycklig när jag gör det så alltså fick det bli Lacky Corner som dom få vara en liten ordlek på lacka och lycklig.

Det här med att fota lack så att dom ser fina ut även på bild visade sig ju inte vara helt enkelt. Eller var det lackandet i sig som inte var helt enkelt för dom där fotona fick mig att verkligen börja anstränga mig för att inte kladda och städa upp mer än vad jag gjort innan för att det skulle se lite vettigare ut. Tänk vad lite övning gör, nu blir jag snarare förbannad om jag måste städa upp nånting.

Jag måste säga att det här med att blogga och få respons på det man gör har gett mig otroligt mycket. Det känns som att jag hittat min grej och något som jag är stolt över. Det hade jag inte heller en aning om, alltså hur fantastiskt kul det är och vilken sporre det är när man får kommentarer och inser att det faktiskt finns dom som kollar på just min blogg.

Visst finns det andra sidor av det hela som kanske av vissa kan ses som en nackdel (dock inte av mig) som t.ex att inköpet av lack mångdubblats sen förra året, men vad gör väl det när man känner att man har råd med det och det får en att må bra.

I wonder if I really thought I would get so stuck in the world of blogging that boring day at work when this blog was born?

Sure, I had thoughts of starting my own blog I was already reading lots of nail blogs and when I painted my own nails I usually took photos of the end result so that I could look it up if I forgott how the polish looked on me. So I guess I should thank my work for having less to do in January and Feburay, otherwise I'm not sure I would have created this blog.

How did I get the ide of the name then? Also a bit of a heat of the moment thing, that I feel might have been wise to think through a bit more than I did. I think I had my old hairdressers name Clipp (swedish for cut) Corner in the head when this came up. In Swedish we say Lacka for painting and when I do that it makes me happy which could also be said as Lucky therefore it had to be Lacky Corner as a sort of a word puzzle of the two words Lacka and Lucky.

This thing with taking photos of your manicure and make it look nice even on pictures turned out not to be quite that simple. Or was it the way I painted that wasn't that good? When I took pictures all the mess that I had left behind was so much more evident and that made me start to really push myself to not mess up to much and clean up more than I did before because it would look a lot better and inviting. Imagine what a little practice does, now I'm rather pissed if I have to clean up anything.

I must say this thing with blogging and get feedback on what you do has given me so incredible much. It feels like I've found my thing and something I'm proud of. I didn't have a clue on how much fun this is and how much I woul appreciate when you get comments on your posts and realize that there are actually people who read my blog.

Certainly there are some consequenses by starting a blog that might be seen by some people as a disadvantage (but not by me) such as the purchase of polishes has multiplied since last year, but what does it matter when you feel you can afford it and it makes one feel good.

Holofredag - Glitter Gal Belgian Chocolate med text av sonen!

I vår Lacka - Byt grupp på FB har det varit lite diskussioner angående det här med gästbloggare. Själv tycker jag att det kan vara trevligt i viss mängd och om man har en speciell anledning till att ta hjälp. Det var också prat om att låta männen göra lackrecensioner, detta efter att Colour it:s man gjorde ett fint inlägg på sin blogg som en hyllning till oss lacknördar.

I vilket fall som helst så sa jag mest på skämt till min äldste son (18½) när han snodde datorn för mig att jaha då kan ju du ta och skriva ett inlägg åt mig. Till min förvåning sa han javisst, vad heter lacket jag ska skriva om och satte sig resolut och kollade på bilderna och skrev följande inlägg:

Dagens lack är Belgian chocolate av Glitter Gal. Det är ett brunaktigt lack med glittergrejjor i som gör en fin holoeffekt. Om det är rätt ljus. Och om man inte frågar någon icke nagellacksfrälst. Gör man det ser holo bara ut som oljefläckar. Och det är ju inte så spännande.

Mums vilken chokladig färg, den hade jag velat ha på min bil!

Även om det inte är något direkt fel med själva lacket som lack i sig blev jag besviken över att det inte alls verkar smaka som chokladen namnet antyder. Inte heller ser det särskilt typiskt belgiskt ut.

Annars tycker jag att det står ut från de flesta andra hololack jag sett, vilket är väldigt positivt då jag tycker att de flesta mest sett likadana ut.

När det kommer till flaskan tycker jag att den är ganska ooriginell, jag hade hellre sett en flaska formad som en parallelltrapets eller orangutanghuvud eller dylikt, då jag inte sett det på så många andra flaskor.

På bilderna har min moder använt underlack, tre lager Nagellack, men inget överlack, det behövdes tydligen inte.

Annat man kan nämna om bilden är att jag inte gillar den typiska nagellacks-demonstrations-posen, jag tycker bara inte det är snyggt, jag har inget egentligt förslag på förbättring, så jag låter den saken passera utan vidare undersökning. För nu.

Tvi, det smakar ju inte alls choklad!

Jag ser nu hur mitt inlägg ser ut och är helt säker på att jag kommer ha många gästinlägg på liknande bloggar i framtiden, men till dess: hej svejs!

In our Lacka - Byt group on FB, it has been some discussions about having guest bloggers. Personally, I think it's nice to a certain amount and if you have a special reason to get help. There was also talk about letting our men do polish reviews, this after Colour it's husband did a nice post on his blog as a tribute to us polish nerds.

In any case, I was about to sit down and write some post when my eldest son (18 ½) stole the computer for me. Ok I told him, you can have it if you write the post. And to my big surprise he said sure what is the name of the polish. He then looked at the pictures of it and wrote the following review:

Today's polish is Belgian chocolate from Glitter Gal. It is a brownish polish with glitterstuff in it making a fine holoeffect. If it's the right light. And if you don't ask any non nailpolish freak. If you do that person would say that holo looks just like oil stains. And that's not that exciting.

Although there is no direct fault with the polish as a polish, I was disappointed that it did not really seem to taste chocolate like the name suggests. Nor does it look like a particular typically Belgian either.

Otherwise, I think it stands out from most other holopolishes I've seen, which is very positive because I think most of them looks the same.

When it comes to the bottle, I think it is pretty unoriginal, I would have preferred a bottle shaped like a trapezoid or orangutan head or something like that, since I have not seen it in so many other bottles.

In the pictures, my mother used base coat, three coats polish, but no top coat, it was for some reason not  needed apparently.

Something else you can mention about the images is that I do not like the typical nail polish demonstration pose, I just don't think it's neat, I have no real suggestions for improvement, so I let the matter pass without further investigation. For now.

I see now how my post turned out and is quite sure that I will have many guest posts on similar blogs in the future, but until then: Hej svejs! (as we would say in Sweden)

China Glaze Pelican Gray

Idag visar jag er ett lack som varit med förr. I ett av mina allra första inlägg finns det här lacket som bas till Newspaper nails. Ett inlägg som jag troligen inte valt att publicera om jag tagit dom bilderna nu...

I alla fall så är det China Glaze Pelican Gray som jag snackar om. Ett ljust grått lack med ett diskret skimmer i. Lacket har inte så värst bra egenskaper formula mässigt. Enligt mig i alla fall. Liksom rinnigt och tjockt samtidigt. Jag minns att jag tyckte det var ett helvete att lacka med det här första gången jag använde det, men det är nästan ett helt år sedan och som ni vet ger övning färdighet. Lite knepigt, men inte alls omöjligt. Jag har tre lager på, hade jag bara tagit i lite bättre från början tror jag att det räckt med två. 

Eftersom lagren blev lite tjocka var också torktiden lite längre, men alls inte dålig. Om ni tycker det ser lite ojämt ut på bilderna så är det för att jag inte har topplack på. Detta beror på att jag som i vanlig ordning tänkte uppdatera manikyren lite med något över det här.

Färgen är som sagt ljust grå och det finns skimmer i det. Jag måste säga att jag gillar det här skarpt. Det är mjukt och vilsamt tycker jag. Sen att det kanske inte är bästa färgen till min hudton tycker jag att vi struntar i! 

Lacket kommer från Anchors Away kollektionen, en mycket lyckad kollektion som kom våren 2011. Den innehöll bl.a mångas favorit Ahoy och en av mina favoriter som jag visade för inte så länge sedan, nämligen Starboard.

Today I'm going to show you a polish that has been shown before. In one of my very first posts this polish is the base to Newspaper nails. A post with pictures I probably wouldn't have published if I had taken them today.

In any case, it is China Glaze Pelican Gray that I'm talking about. A light gray polish with a subtle shimmer in. The polish hasn't got the best formula according to me. It's both runny and thick at the same time. I remember I thought it was a hell to paint with this the first time I used it, but it's almost a year ago and as you know, practice gets result and now I felt it was a bit tricky, but not impossible. I have three layers on, If I  had just taken thicker layer first I think you could get away with only two.

Because the layers were a bit thick the drying time alsa was a bit longer, but not at all bad. If you think it looks a little uneven in the pictures, it's because I don't have a topcoat on. This is because I, as usual, was thinking of updating the manicure with a little something on top.

The color is as I say light gray and there is shimmer in it. I must say I like this a lot. For me it feels soft and peaceful. Then it may not be the best color for my skin tone, but I honestly don't care!

The polish comes from the Anchors Away collection, a very successful collection that came in spring 2011. It contained, among other polishes many people's favorite Ahoy and one of my favorites that I showed you not so long ago, namely Starboard.

Grön onsdag - Orly Enchanted Forest

Grönt är skönt! Någon som insett detta är Karin som både har bloggen Vacker & Underbar och även är ägare till eminenta Nailmail som nog är en av dom enda svenska siterna som jag köper lack ifrån. Hon har startat en Grön Onsdag och den här veckan tänker jag vara med och visa ett lack från ett märke som lätt skulle vinna priset skönaste korkarna om jag fick bestämma.

Märket är Orly och lacket är Enchanted Forest ännu ett lack som jag bytt till mig. Som titeln antyder så är det här ett skogsgrönt lack och det passar ju bra till mig som bor nästan mitt i skogen (eller gjorde innan Gudrun!). Det är ett krämlack och det slår mig varje gång jag lackar på ett krämlack att jag som nästan alltid stortrivs i finishen använder den alldeles för lite. Oftast blir det när man ska göra någon nailart eller ha det under ett annat lack.

Det här täcker mycket bra och två lager är absolut tillräckligt. Torkade riktigt fort också. Jag gillar ju som sagt både korken och penslen till Orly lacken och förstår egentligen inte varför jag inte har mer i min samling. Får nog bli ändring på det.

På bilderna är det alltså två lager utan topplack, för även den här gången var det ju tanken att det här skulle få agera bas till ett annat lack.

Karin who have both her blog Vacker & Underbar and also is the owner of the eminent Nailmail that probably is one of the only Swedish sites that I buy polishes from. She has started a Green Wednesday and this week I will participate and show a polish from a brand that could easily win the award best caps if I could decide.

The brand is Orly and the polish is Enchanted Forest another polish that I got through a swap. As the title suggests, this is a forest-green paint and the fits me perfect since I almost live in the middle of the woods (or did before the storm Gudrun took it all!). It is a creme and it strikes me every time I use creme that I almost always gets happy about wearing this type of finish and are using it too little. Usually it's when I need it to do any nail art or have it under another polish.

This covers very well and two coats is definitely enough. Dried really fast too. I like As I said, both the cork and the brush on Orly's polishes and don't really understand why I don't have more in my collection. Have to change that!

So on the pictures there are two coats without top coat, for this time as well I did put it on with the thought of using it as a base for another polish.
